On the occasion of the opening of the Iron Curtain 30 years ago as well as the temporary exhibition project Die Verwandlung. Borders are Vacillating., curated by Iris Andraschek and Hubert Lobnig, which will open on 24th August, we invite you to explore the border area of Fratres / Slavonice together with us.
INVENTOUR, the new mediation project of public art in Lower Austria, searches for diverse connections in the border region. The distance from the small Austrian village Fratres over the border to the czech town Slavonice is less than two kilometers. In the region it is not so quiet as it seems at first sight: many bike tourists use the newly built Thayatalbicycle way on the former railway line. In Slavonice, among other things, the Centre for the Future offers space for workshops, seminars and events and a cinema thus creating an active cultural life.
An exceptional screenprinting workshop with a multi-meter rapport table and countless illuminated screens by the well-known textile and ornamental designer Vesna was recently moved to the Centre for the Future in Slavonice. A great opportunity for future design- and printing-gatherings - INVENTOUR and the Center for the Future are inviting to the screen printing workshop to exchange ideas. Together with the open printing workshop Viadukt from Vienna, bilingual quotes can be printed on posters.
The Museum Humanum in Fratres invites you to take a look at its extraordinary collection history. And at a Erzähl-Café, stories about similarities and "connections" beyond the borderline are welcome to be exchanged.
