In her exhibition in the Kunstraum Weikendorf Vienna-based artist Rosa Rendl shows large scale wall and floor carpets, each with a term in the rapport as a pattern. Emotional states, psychological attributions, emotional states, tensions. The terms Rejection - the title of the exhibition -, Opportunity, Fear, Response and Ego operate like striking calls for the viewers to freely associate the personal meaning and correlations.
In addition, still-life photographs of interior spaces are attached to the carpets. The identifiable privacy of the photographs on the one hand and the large-scale on advertising aesthetics reminiscing graphic of the carpets on the other side bring up dualisms such as privacy and publicity, inside and outside, proximity and distance.
Artist talk:
Sunday, October 6, 4.30 p.m., at Kunstraum Weikendorf
This time the "Weikendorf Jury" consisted of Beate Thaller, Johannes Naimer, Brigitte Kasper-Ager, Kurt Felice and Susanna Hirschböck. The jury justified its decision by stating that blurring the boundaries between digital and analogue representation and the relationship between private and public is a key aspect in Rosa Rendl’s work. And this approach could especially appeal to young people who treat it differently than the generation before them.
