For several years, Gerhard Schneider, section office of the fire department history, strives to recycle the history of about 16 forgotten fire departments of the military training area Döllersheim (now Allentsteig). In the course of a loaded competition of Kunst im öffentlichen Raum the forgotten fire brigades should be kept a souvenir. Maruša Sagadin extended the idea of the monument into the present and erected a kind of tribune, which not only reminds of the individual groups, but also refers to the numerous fields of application. Above all, the artistic intervention makes the site in the volunteer fire department a new meeting place and provides different uses of the space.

Maruša Sagadin
In her artistic practice, the artist Maruša Sagadin explores the interplay between gender, language and sculpture in contemporary architecture. Her installations and objects consciously work equally inside and outside, refer to elements of pop and subculture, work with humor and exaggeration, and are often supplemented with a performative act to invite the viewer to actively participate in the art work. In 2018 she realized a sculpture in the form of an oversized cap in the Helmut Zilk Park with KÖR Vienna, which serves as a meeting place for girls in particular, and designed the new artists' bar in the Vienna Secession. Most recently her works have been exhibited at the Moderna Galerija in Ljubljana and the Kunstverein Hamburg (2019), in the Halle for Art and Media in Graz and at NADA New York (2018) as well as in SPACE London (2016).

At the opening on Sunday, 8th as well as on Friday 13th and Saturday, 14th September 2019, the mobile art mediation will be on site with the INVENTOUR bus and bring along a specific program with workshop, narrative café and film screening.
