ein dorf in der geschichte

We cordially invite to the Film Screening and Conversation with the Director
Postadresse: 2640 Schlöglmühl (1990)
Egon Humer

Friday, 2019 June 7, 7 p.m.

Kinosaal der Marktgemeinde Golling
3381 Golling an der Erlauf

In his documentary, Egon Humer sheds light on the effects of the closure of a paper mill on the municipality of Schlöglmühl. It is an event that took place in a similar way in Golling: In 1919, the first Austrian jute spinning and weaving mill (HITIAG) acquired a factory there, built houses specifically for the workers and until 1945 was one of the largest textiel producers in Europe. The closure of the factory in 2001 was a major turning point for the locality and population, reflecting at the same time major trends in globalization.

In the conversation, which Alejandro Bachmann will lead with the two former majors, the parallels between the events in the citiy and those from the film will be worked out and discussed with the public.

The film screening "Stunde Null" by Edgar Reitz and a conversation with the director is the prelude to the four-part film and discussion series "Ein Dorf in der Geschichte".
